Our personnel are fully trained and experienced for on-site and Personal Trackside Safety and Trackside Security - knowledgeable about the requirements and demands this hostile and potentially dangerous environment. Senator has devised specific protocols and procedures that enhance the operational efficiency of the contractors and aiding in ensuring the performance and deadlines are met.
Network Rail Framework Agreement – Railway Security and PTS Manned Guarding
COSS and SSOW Planning are important roles that Senator are involved in along with liaison with local communities and Law enforcement operations. In accordance with UK Government Policy, Senator is part of; and supports, the Approved Contractor Scheme with BS4799, BS7858 and Achilles Link-Up (PTS No. 17566) in place for operating in Possession and Non-possession Environments.
Senator Security Services Limited holds SIA Approved Contractor status for the provision of Security Guarding, Key Holding and CCTV services.
All Senator personnel are fully trained in every aspect and equipped accordingly with dedicated specialist management involved at every stage.

Preventing cable theft…
Network Rail is suffering its highest ever levels of theft; particularly copper and metals. With over £35m worth of copper theft from Network Rail since 2006 and the company warning that thefts could total £20m a year by 2014 it is an ongoing problem which brings with it a number of challenges.
The rail network and support infrastructure is without doubt a target for theft of cable, plant and equipment, although there are known ‘hotspots’ this is a nationwide problem for Network Rail and their appointed Tier 1 Contractors.
The safety of staff, contractors and the public are priority but the results of these acts of theft, trespass and vandalism impact the safe and timely running of the service for passenger and freight potentially resulting in increased fines and penalties. This isn’t restricted to ‘new’ infrastructure and construction – the ongoing maintenance, work programs and commissioning dates of the system is jeopardized.
Senator provide: Lookouts, Site Wardens, Coss, SSOW, Site supervisors, Project managers, PTS (Personal Track Safety) operators, Static and Mobile Guards, Mobile Patrols and Surveillance Systems including PSS. All overseen by a senior management team with years of Rail experience who talk your language.
The Solution
Experienced, qualified and knowledgeable security personnel working strategically and tactically as part of the team… Senator provides a highly visibile deterrent – track patrols, perimeter patrols and mobile patrols to ensure the perpetrators are aware of our presence. Liaising with the local community and land owners to gather intelligence and reported suspicious movements and locations for surveillance and interceptions is key. Continuous communication, close management by supervisors and back-up patrols for rapid response add to the depth and scope of the service we deliver.
Our Strategy
Working closely with British Transport Police, local community and land owners, local law enforcement and Network Rail we ensure a coordinated and integrated security provision. Senator adopts the BTP protocol for security team deployment and all Senator personnel are supervised by qualified, professional security managers.
Training
Senator personnel are SIA Licensed , and where necessary, PTS/COSS/IWA accredited, all receive ongoing assessment by our own SQE team and are informed of BTP Best Practice, Weapons Awareness, Emergency First Aid and Environment Hazard Awareness including wildlife, terrain and bio-hazardous waste such as discarded needles. Personal Track Safety training is essential (our preferred training provider is Amtrain) as is keeping all our personnel ‘current’ for required qualifications/accreditations – Senator Security has a commitment to an ongoing investment in training and staff education.
Emerging technologies
Senator is experienced in specifying and deploying new technologies including mobile WiFi CCTV to monitor known or suspected hotspots – these cameras link to a Security and/or Project Manager’s laptop computer and our own 24/7 remote monitoring centre.
Likewise, Trembler alarms on cable ducts and sub-stations trigger our own 24/7 remote monitoring centre to notify local law enforcement or dispatch a fast response team to attend the incident. Senator constantly seek new technologies that provide us, and our clients, with an advantage and an enhanced service.
