This project is to build 1.5km of track to move freight on to the west coast line at Nuneaton. It is estimated that once operational it could reduce container traffic on the A14 by 250,000 trucks a year.
The construction project is sited in a green field area which brings challenges that Senator are well equipped to meet having many years experience working in rural and rural/industrial environments… this experience is a key differential when selecting the right security company for projects such as this which encompasses a number of elevations and involves constructing a strategic rail link into the west coast down side.
Senator Security are deployed for two specific reasons, to prevent disruption to the west coast line and to prevent and deter theft or damage that would delay or compromise the construction of the project. Senator produced a security plan which was presented to NWR who selected a PTS COSS mobile patrol from the options available, plus PTS static security officer based at the most vulnerable area of the site. Senator are also supplying and deploying security technologies, such as mobile alarm systems of various types, on this project – these are proven to be effective and compliment the manned guarding.
To date the site being protected by Senator Security has not suffered any loss or damage. Senator has made contact with local land owners and the local community allowing them to have a direct point of contact should they see or hear anything. Although Senator’s primary role is security; since being deployed our mobile patrol has successfully prevented a suicide in the adjacent quarry when the police could not attend due to other problems in the Nuneaton area. This isn’t unusual and Senator’s well trained and experienced personnel are able to work on their own initiative, adapting to each incident with vigilance and versatility.
Bill Searle; National Rail Sector Manager for Senator Security, added, “Nuneaton is a well-known hot spot for cable theft and damage to infrastructure, unfortunately, with a number of different security companies being deployed over the years without much success, this has continued to be a problem. However, since our deployment and with us operating in a proactive, high profile manner, this situation has changed significantly. Key to this is our approach, planning and working with the local communities which has, so far, proved to be effective in protecting this project. Deterrent and prevention are the essential ingredients in delivering an effective rail security solution… and if security is effective it immediately becomes cost effective.”
Senator Security was awarded the Network Rail Framework Agreement in 2011.
