Senator Security, one of the UK’s leading independent security services providers’ builds on its PTS (Personal Trackside Safety) business in the Rail Infrastructure and Construction sectors with Phase 2a & 2b of the Network Rail South Erewash Valley project in the Midlands.
August 2009; London, UK; Senator Security Limited (Senator) is gaining a valuable reputation as a key strategic partner for stakeholders in major infrastructure and construction projects; in this case the Cable and Infrastructure protection for the works being undertaken for Network Rail in the South Erewash Valley (Phase 2a & 2b). PTS accreditation is clearly a vital part of this project but increasingly it is the skills and competencies of the Senator team that makes the real difference. The local knowledge aligned with a keen understanding of the environment, requirements and the ability to pre-empt likely situations with the deployment of mobile and foot operatives, many using state-of-the-art technologies such as ‘night vision’ and ‘live’ multi-point liaison via Senator’s own Control & Operations Centre.
Bill Searle, Senator’s regional project manager adds, “We are always learning but we now have an enviable level of experience in this sector; this provides added value to our clients and considerably aids our working relationships with the other companies and personnel involved in major infrastructure programs such as this. Senator is pivotal in the line of communication; be this British Transport Police, Network Rail, the respective construction and equipment suppliers and, very importantly, the local community. In accordance with UK Government Policy, Senator is part of; and supports, the Approved Contractor Scheme with BS4799, BS7858 and Achilles Link-Up (PTS No. 17566) in place and operating in Possession and Non-possession Environments requires close collaboration with Rimini Planners and ‘best practice’ in supporting our personnel. Correct equipment, communication and briefings are essential… it isn’t only the perpetrators of opportunistic or planned crime we have to contend with – the landscape, weather, snakes and Hogweed conspire with the inherent dangers to make this a challenging and often under-valued role.”
Andy Grice, Senator Security’s Operations Director commented, “Security in such environments and with the value of current machinery, equipment and components on a project of this kind being considerable we play a key role in ensuring the successful completion of major construction and maintenance projects – additionally, there is the avoidance of disruption to works and the avoidance of endangerment of personnel that are a constant and we consult with the COSS at all stages. We often have responsibility for ‘separated green’ and ‘green field’ areas which involves area searches and individual person/car searches… and bear in mind this is over large areas with multiple depots and yards, eleven or twelve miles of terrain with natural and man-made obstacles and limited lie of sight to deal with. South Erewash is proving to be a successful project for us and we plan to take the experience from this and previous projects including the Trent Valley Four Tracking project into the future as we, Senator, become ever more integrated into the planning and delivery of such projects.”
Senator are gaining equal success and a strong reputation for delivering value added security provision to sectors as diverse as Facilities Management, Health, Education and Manufacturing with clients including the Department for Health, King’s College and with PTS; Network Rail. Andy Grice finally adding, “We have a real ‘hands on’ approach; we understand and respond to client need proactively – working closely and often consulted on new initiatives including Health & Safety, emergency and evacuation etc… and we value our clients; this is reflected in the excellent working relationships we enjoy and maintain with both public and private organisations.”
